Hi! I am Kora!

I’m a 30-year-old girl originally from lovely Schwerin, but living in Hamburg right now. After four years of establishing a career in creative advertising business and a lifetime dreaming of travelling the world, I decided that it was time to make it happen.

On this blog I share my experiences with my beloved people at home and hope to encourage them and others to travel more and travel independently, by sharing real and personal moments. I write the blog posts in German to give people like my parents the chance to understand my stories. So sorry to all my international friends, but maybe the pictures are worth a thousand words?

To me travel isn’t just about relaxing or being on a holiday; it’s also about venturing out into the unknown, following your own path, and pushing beyond your comfort zone. It is all about seeking new adventures, new cultures, new faces, new cities, new lands, and sometimes doing reckless things. Additionally I believe travel has the potential to inspire change in people, and in turn inspire change in the world.  We`ll see what the journey will do to me. 🙂

For 4 years I traveled while working in full time jobs. It all started quite normal, the annual vacation to somewhere warm. Slowly it built to two annual trips, three annual trips and long weekend trips on top of it all whenever I could get away. Travelling got me hooked and became a huge part of my live. But up to this point the problem I had with long-term travel was simple: During my student days I had the time to travel, but not the money to do so. While working the last years I had the money, but not the time.

That`s why I applied for a sabbatical. Don`t get me wrong. I love my job and my life in Hamburg – but there must be something more. It is not that I`m overworked or plan to go out into the world to do some soul searching and sort myself out. I am happy with me and my world. I just want to ditch my desk, hit the road and discover a new and exciting world of opportunities. I am passionate about real adventures –  dizzying peaks and steaming jungles, crashing waves and raging rivers – if it gets my heart pumping and my perspective changing, I’m in. But not alone – I do the journey partly with my boyfriend, partly on my own – a great mix.

I have thought a long while about my final route. That was the most difficult part in planning the trip. You have to consider so many things: weather seasons, political & economic situations, connections… I finalised my plans….changed the plan again, changed the plan, changed the plan. And when I thought: “Ha, that’s it” – I changed the plan. Just recently I kicked out one of the most interesting countries of my route due to the dramatically increasing crisis in the country: Venezuela. :/

But now it is settled, here comes the final itinerary (in brackets are countries with a stay of several days, just as a layover on the way to another country):

I am off to grab some awesomeness and wonder of the world for myself! See ya out there!
